DDP - DISC DESCRIPTION PROTOCOL
DDP - AUTHORING & CREATION
A DDP image is at its core a digital image of a compact disc that contains:
- Track IDs
- UPC/EAN code
If you have mastered tracks for a project, ready to go in WAV or AIFF, but need them to conform to red book standards, we can compile them to an error free DDP image, which can be checked and ready for playback on your own computer with a complimentary DDP player. You would then send the DDP image file to a CD manufacturer.
DDP & WHY IT IS IMPORTANT FOR YOU
Unlike CD-R/physical red book masters, a DDP is an error free format, as such read/write errors, skips or scratches do not occur on the digital image. This makes DDP a preference for CD masters, rather than physical, that then needs to be sent to the glass mastering duplication manufacturer. DDP also has a benefit of quick delivery via internet to these CD glass master duplication manufacturers. Sending individual WAV files to get burnt at a CD manufacturer can be risky and prone to sequencing issues while a DDP has all info correct in place.
HOFA DDP PLAYER
The HOFA DDP Player is a complimentary free playback tool for DDP image for you, as a client, to check and listen to the DDP, making sure it is accurate and performs as expected for your red book master. As the DDP file will work the same way/sound identical as to what the CD glass master duplication manufacturer will be using, you can check your project in confidence.
